The TOMUS study will be enrolling women until Spring of 2008.

The SISTEr study has enrolled 655 women. The BE-DRI study has enrolled 307 women. Enrollment for these two studies is closed.

Women who are age 21 years and older, who have stress urinary incontinence, and who want surgery for this problem are being enrolled in the study. Women interested in the study will be evaluated to see if they are eligible to participate. This evaluation includes a physical examination, completion of a bladder diary, and some questionnaires. After surgery, patients will have "study" visits with clinical research staff. Because we are interested in the long-term effects of the treatments, these visits will occur for up to 2 years.

There will be no costs to patients for participation in this study. The costs of the surgery and any physician visits will be charged to health insurance plans just as they would if patients were not participating in this study. Depending on the type of health insurance you have, there might be a co-payment for some of the visits.
